A member of Glooscap First Nation, Danica Roache is a mixed-ancestry writer living in Punamu'kwati'jk (Dartmouth) with her partner, four kids, and pets. Her poetry and creative non-fiction has been shortlisted for both the CBC Poetry Prize and The Malahat Review’s Open Season Awards and has been published in The Dalhousie Review. Her first novel Five Seasons of Charlie Francis was published in October 2025 and won the Margaret and John Savage First Book Award (Fiction) and the Dartmouth Book Award for Fiction. It was also shortlisted for the Thomas Raddall Atlantic Fiction Award and the Indigenous Voices Award for Published Prose. Her second novel The Bear Falls Community Cookbook is slated for publication in Fall 2027.  When not writing or chasing after her brood, she can be found reading, making wonky knitwear, and listening to the same three songs on repeat.
